Field spells became more common in recent formats than it was before. Metalfoes' field spell didn't take off when it first got released, seeing how it was irrelevant to the Ultimaya Tzolkin combo play. Not classified as being a Metalfoes Spell/Trap only made Metamorformation less desirable. Reckless Magic Circle were one of the few that started the trend of Terraforming being played in the Main Deck to support an archetype and tutor the deck. But that was after the initial Kozmo hype where Fire King Island and Kozmotown were relevant to players. Structure decks had also tried to incorporate Field spell cards into their deck for the archetype to function consistently, such as Ancient Gear's reprinted Geartown and the upcoming Lost World for Struture Deck R - Pulse of the Dinobeast. Before all of these, the only time Terraforming became required was when FTKs and Chicken Game were involved.
Now, we have Sucession of the True Draco added into the mix as True Dracos enter the format, so I thought it was appropriate to release a short article introducing this card that some may not know of.
You can Tribute this card; add 1 Field Spell Card from your Deck to your hand.
Plant Pathfinder debuted in Abyss Rising in the OCG as a common, and recently got reprinted in Structure Deck R - Machine Dragon Re-volt.
It surfaced briefly during the Dragon Ruler reign to tutor out Dragon Ravine for the deck to function after the infant forms got banned. It fitted well into the deck since the deck rarely normal summons. After fulfilling its purpose for a search, it is a banish fodder for Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders.
If now, or ever, you field that a spell card like Terraforming doesn't fit your bill, Planet Pathfinder is here for you. Given the thought that Anti-Spell Fragrance and Imperial Order are commonly witnessed floodgates for the format, Planet Pathfinder might not be such a bad idea to keep in mind.
