Fluffals recently secured a win in one of the Japan tournaments. The deck went 8-0-1.
It is unknown, as of now, how the tie was achieved. It may either be due to a prize sharing in the finals or a unfortunate situation where Time was called and they had to end the Match at 1-1 for the event to continue.

Description
The only reason to run the PSY-Frame engine over Herald of Orange Light is the synchro summoning aspect.
Since PSY-Framegear Gamma is geared (pun intended) towards negating Hand Traps such as Ghost Ogre and Snow Rabbit or Ash Blossom and Joyous Spring, it will usually be a activate-during-your-turn type of thing.
There are plenty of Level 8 staple synchro monsters and I bet that their effects speak for themselves.
Skull Meister and Ghost Ogre and Snow Rabbit hides behind on the first row of the Side Deck. D/D/D Duo-Dawn King Kali Yuga is played solely for Xyz Universe. Being a 'Heavy Storm' during either player's turn, you can send Toy Vendor from your field to the graveyard during your opponent's turn.
Conclusion
Fluffals may have been able to take the metagame by surprise this time but I doubt that its success can be substantiated.
The metagame is too harsh towards decks that can't generate or snowball into momentum on its own. Furthermore, Toy Vendor is somewhat notorious for being unreliable at times. While the Fluffal deck has the ability to enter a +4, it requires more than a single card to achieve that, as opposed to the Zoodiacs, which can do so with any Zoodiac monsters, and all of them are searchable via Fire Formation - Tenki.
Nevertheless, a deck shouldn't be too focused on combating the meta such that the deck's main aim and win condition is forgone. Skull Meister's being in the Side Deck is a good representation that the deck is still balanced between [Meta Hate] and [Win Condition].
