I lost count...

In the search for Kirin's replacement, I found yet another interesting and underappreciated card, that lies in your discarded pile from the The Dark Illusion (TDIL).

Pendulum Effect
  • When a monster(s) you control is destroyed by a card effect (except during the Damage Step): You can Special Summon this card from your Pendulum Zone. You can only use this effect of "Acrobatic Magician" once per turn.

Monster Effect
  • If the activation of a Spell/Trap Card is negated (except during the Damage Step): You can Special Summon this card from your hand. When this card is destroyed by battle: You can place this card in your Pendulum Zone.

It is a low scale, being at 2, which is something Metalfoes players have been seeking since Kirin's demise. Its monster effect can prove useful as a wall, and provides another method for it to enter the pendulum zone. Combined together with its pendulum effect, Acrobat Magician is capable of floating and traversing between the monster and pendulum zone.
This is useful as it can act as a recurring target for destruction for Metalfoes pendulum effect, and you can access this target without the need for pendulum summoning.

Judging from its stats, Acrobat Magician is more of a defensive monster, but being a Level5 can prove to be useful in a Metalfoes deck. Metalfoes do have a handful Level3 tuners, but many remain under the radar as they are seldom used for synchro summoning.
  • Ghost Ogre and Snow Rabbit
  • Al-Lumi'Raj
  • Ghost Reaper and Winter Cherries
With a 5+3, this expands your access to Level8 synchro monsters without the need to rely on Ultimaya Tzolkin. Speaking of which, do bear in mind that since it is a pendulum card, it can't be used alongside Blackwing - Gofu the Vague Shadow for the summon of Ultimaya Tzolkin.

Magician Metalfoes or even Magician Odd-Eyes might find better use for it, but my point of view is - It has the ability to provide the Metalfoes archetype with a constant target for destruction that doesn't require you to tap into pendulum summoning. This may be called for in the near future, and in a sense, it floats by itself, so it is resource-savvy. Acrobat Magician isn't broken, but it is to my belief that this card is brewing with potential.
