Droll & Lock Bird

Droll and Lock Bird has been used quite frequently. Today we discuss why.

Effect

WIND Level 1
Spellcaster/Effect
During either player's turn, if your opponent adds a card(s) from their Deck to their hand (except during the Draw Phase): You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard; for the rest of this turn, neither player can add a card(s) from their Deck to their hand.

Play

Droll and Lock Bird can be used in conjucture with Trickster Reincarnation. After a search by the opponent, activate Tricker Reincarnation followed by chaining Droll and Lock Bird.

On its own, in a meta filled with multiple searches per turn, Droll and Lock Bird acts as an annoying hand trap to disrupt your opponent and prevent Terraforming's searched targets from doing much, since plenty of field spells are used to proceed with further deck searching.

In this YOTHK's Feature Match for the Quarter Finals, we witness the deadly combo being executed successfully in the first game. Unfornately, in the following game, the player bricked with two copies with Droll and Lock Bird after being unable to retrieve Trickster Reincarnation.

Conclusion

You, as your deck's player, get to decide if Droll and Lock Bird is worth your time and the risk. On its own, it acts as a 4th to 6th, but weaker, version of Ash Blossom and Joyous Spring. With True Dracos, Invoked and Dinosaurs floating around in the metagame, the game seems to be a reminscent of the Nekroz era. Stopping searches is indeed crucial and game-changing and probably the only reason why players bear the risk and include this Hand Trap in their Side or Main.
