Description

Taking a page from the TCG players, OCG players started playing Paleozoics using That Grass is Greener and Absolute King Back Jack.

Code of the Duelist gave Paleozoic players a gift - Heavy Dust Storm.

Being a trap, it is loved by the trap-based Paloezoics deck, and is in the perfect position to replace Twin Twisters. Capable of clearing floodgates and traps with no cost in card economics. The recent Rank 2 monster, Phantom Knight of Cursed Javelin also gave them an out to problematic cards for the deck, cards such as Jinzo and Denko Sekka. It can be accessed via the Frog engine, which is another reason why the engine can't be neglected. Number 45: Crumble Logos is another option.

The Frog engine also works fine with the milling engine of the deck. While milling your Frog the Jam instead of having it in hand is a sad thing, stacking your graveyard with targets for Roadintoadin to banish and be revived is a sound strategy too.

Blackwing - Gofu the Vague Shadow is practically staple in the current format. It is a one-card Link Monster on its own. Maxx "C" may not be as useful as before, but it can normal summoned for an Xyz Summon, since it is coincidentally Level 2 too.

Just note that you are obligated to return the Limited copy of Toadally Awesome back to your Extra Deck with its own effect in order to be able to keep re-using it over the course of the entire duel.

I enjoy the Trickstar engine. It can be improved on by adding the Level 2 Trickstar Lilybell. More cards can be added, such as the field spell Trickstar Lightstage to turbo Trickstar Lilybell out. However it carries the risk of taking up valueable space, making That Grass Looks Greener mill cards that would otherwise profit by being in the graveyard.

Ygopro has not been updated and hence I could not get Link monsters into the deck screenshot. The Extra Deck will be quite standard probably. The best of the best for Rank 2s, a Rank 4 or two, and staple Link Monsters:
  • Link Spider x 2
  • Missus Raidant
  • Decode Talker

Conclusion

The greatest threat to the deck is still Ghost Ash and Joyous Spring, which stops the main engine of the deck. Also, watch out for the occasional Macro Cosmos and even Skull Invitation from rouge decks, waiting to chain to your That Grass Looks Greener.

Collector Pack also introduced another useful Rank 2 for Paleozoic decks to abuse -  Number 29: Mannequin Cat. It will be useful in Mirror Matches and may ultimately shine when a similar-attribute deck emerges.
